The Bernabéu has become the first stadium to be part of PHotoESPAÑA, one of the most prestigious photography festivals in the world. The exhibition The 21st Century Bernabéu features a collection of photographs taken by José Manuel Ballester, National Photography Award winner. The exhibition, which is part of the Bernabéu Tour, documents the six years during which the stadium underwent one of the most extraordinary architectural transformations of recent decades.
Through a selection of photographs, the exhibition documents from a unique artistic perspective the six years of construction work that have shaped the new Bernabéu, from the initial works started in 2019 to the completion of the stadium, which has today become a global benchmark for innovation, technology, and design.
The images capture unique moments of the construction process and show how the Bernabéu has redefined its identity without losing its essence, transitioning from a stadium under renovation to becoming one of Madrid's great architectural icons.
A space open to culture
The exhibition also marks a milestone for the Bernabéu itself by becoming, for the first time in its history, a venue for an activity integrated into PHotoESPAÑA. This collaboration places the stadium within the cultural circuit of the festival and strengthens its role as a space open to new forms of art, creation, and experiences for its visitors. A unique opportunity to discover how the 21st Century Bernabéu was born from within and to be part of an unrepeatable chapter in its evolution.
