The Bernabéu will be the venue for a large gathering led by pope Leo XIV during his upcoming official visit to Spain. On June 8, starting at 7:00 pm CEST, Leo XIV will bring together the diocesan community of Madrid as part of his journey through several Spanish cities from June 6 to June 12.
This gathering is one of the main events on the pope's agenda and will bring together thousands of people in a venue renowned for its capacity to host large-scale events in a central location with extensive logistical and operational capabilities.
This is not the first time the Bernabéu hosts an event of this nature. Previously, John Paul II presided over a gathering with tens of thousands of attendees in 1982, one of the most impactful non-sporting events ever held in Spain's capital.
Pope Leo XIV's choice of the Bernabéu once again highlights the venue's versatility and strengthens its positioning as an internationally recognized multifunctional space for all types of events.
